What is GDPR?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation set forth by the European Union to protect their citizens’ data. This allows EU citizens to reach out to any company that stores their personal information and those companies are required to remove all personal information about those citizens from their databases.

What is considered “personal information”?

PII, or Personally Identifiable Information, is information that can identify an individual. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Passport information

  • Race

  • Date of birth

  • Driver’s license

  • Mailing address

  • Credit card information

Shopper Approved’s responsibility

EU citizens must give Shopper Approved written consent to collect, store, and transmit any of their personal data. As a result, we ask EU citizens to confirm they have read our GDPR agreement when leaving an initial review.

If an EU citizen reaches out to our team requesting the complete removal of their personal information from our systems, we are required to completely remove all PII from any place where this may have been stored.

If a citizen of EU requests the removal of personal information, we escalate this to a manager right away. This process is taken seriously and may take time.
