Social Evidence - Connecting a Source
Updated over 3 months ago

Every new Social Evidence account comes already connected to Shopper Approved so that reviews can be displayed.

In order to use the Conversion or Streak notifications, you will need to connect a new source, either a webhook or a webform, to your Account.

Webhook

Step 1

Log into your Social Evidence dashboard, and click "Sources".

Sources

Click the + button.

add source

Follow these steps to configure the source:

  1. Give your Source a name. This is typically the name of the location that will be sending the data. (i.e. Zapier or Shopify)

  2. Select "WebHook Received".

  3. Click "Create".

This is the Webhook URL that you will need your source to send the data to. Click "Copy". Until Evidence has received a webhook at that URL, it will be 'Listening' (waiting) for one.

Important: Make sure you don't publish the source until after you receive your first webhook.

Step 2

Once Evidence has received a webhook at the above URL, customize the data that can be pulled from the webhook to display in the notification. Our developers will hopefully have done this for you, but if you need to add any fields, follow these steps:

  1. Click “Add a field. You will see a list, long or short, of every single field that the webhook is pulling over to the Social Evidence dashboard:

Note: If you are not getting the info you need, you could always try a different webhook type.

  2. Scroll through the list and find the fields that indicate First Name, City, and Product name, and any other fields the client wants to use. See this client’s fields as an example:

  • The First Name field is customer.first_name. City is shipping_address.city, and the product name in this case is line_items.name. Label each field accordingly.

3. Categorize or delete any of the fields that you have selected by clicking the icons next to each field. Field type can be left blank on something like a product name that doesn’t have a set category already listed, but it’s very important that you choose list options for Product Name:

Pick “Use first value” as the other options tend to cause issues with displaying the notification.

4. When you’re done with the fields, use the toggle at the top of the window to turn the source "ON"

Webforms

You can also send the needed info to Evidence via webform if that works better with your platform. Add a new source as described above, but choose “webform” instead of “webhook”. You will need to add the webform URL:
