What is Reputation Management?
Shopper Approved’s Reputation Management is a system that was created to help you manage and improve your online reputation across the web on multiple platforms. It consists of two tools: Reputation Management Starter and Reputation Management Pro. Both tools allow you to prioritize which platforms you want to improve your reputation on. Please note that an account can only have one tool turned on at a time.
Reputation Management Starter (formerly Review Destinations)
This is the basic Shopper Approved Reputation Management Tool. It gives you the ability to add any third-party open review platforms you wish and then send a portion of customers to these sites to leave a review after they complete their purchase. You have full control over what percentage of customers are sent to each site.
We do not monitor the ratings on these sites. You can opt to have reviews sent to these platforms even if they already have a 5 star rating there.
Reputation Management Pro (formerly Reputation Accelerator)
This is the premium Reputation Management tool. It gives you the ability to see your overall rating and reviews from other third-party review platforms across the web so that you are aware of your current overall reputation. You can access this information right in the Shopper Approved dashboard.
You can also set rating goals and priority settings to direct review requests to those other platforms (platforms currently available are BBB, Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, Sitejabber Direct, and Reviews.io.)
Smart Goals automatically direct review requests until the goal for each platform has been met. Once all platforms have reached the current Smart Goal rating, the system will set the next goal and Reputation Management Pro will work to reach the new goal rating.
Custom Goals are specific rating goals for review platforms. Unlike Smart Goals, these goals remain fixed at the value you set.
The default starting goal is 4.1, with the highest available goal being 4.7 at this time. Reputation Management Pro continues to send customers to other platforms until the ratings goal has been met.
Differences between the two Reputation Management Tools
Here’s a brief summary of the differences between the two Reputation Management tools:
How to Manage Reputation Management Starter
When Reputation Management Starter is turned on, a card will be displayed on your client dashboard. The tool can be managed from this card:
or from the main menu navigation:
Add new sites to Reputation Management Starter by clicking the “Add Additional Sites” button and entering the appropriate URLs. “Review Page URL” is the URL of an open source platform where a customer can leave a review for your specific business.
Once all your chosen platforms have been added, you can simply choose whatever percentages you’d like, making sure that they add up to 100%. This setting determines what percent of your customers get sent to each of these platforms post-purchase. Please note that the lowest percentage Shopper Approved can be set to is 20%.
The system will continue to send customers to these platforms until you tell it otherwise.
How to Manage Reputation Management Pro
When Reputation Management Pro is turned on, a card will be displayed on your client dashboard. The tool can be managed from this card:
or from the main menu navigation:
Add sites to Reputation Management Pro by clicking the “Add another platform” button, choosing a platform from the list, and entering the appropriate URLs. “Company Page URL” is the URL of an open source platform where a customer can read reviews for your specific business and “Rating URL” is the URL where a customer can leave a review for your specific business on the open source platform. Platforms currently available are BBB, Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, Sitejabber Direct, Reviews.io, and for some users, Facebook.
By default, all goals are “Smart Goals”, meaning the system will automatically send customers to each open source platform until all platforms have reached a 4.7 star rating or higher. Click the “Edit Your Goals” button and then the edit icon next to a platform to turn a Smart Goal into a Custom Goal, which remains fixed at the value you set it at:
You can also choose the order that you would like each platform to be prioritized when directing review requests by clicking the “Edit Goals” button and then choosing “Set importance priority”.
Platform Status
Platforms are categorized as Always Collecting, Accelerating, Monitoring, or Maintaining in the Shopper Approved dashboard.
Shopper Approved and Sitejabber Direct are the only platforms that are Always Collecting, meaning the system continues to send potential reviewers to those platforms even when the highest goal has been met. Accelerating platforms are below the rating goal you have set, so are actively collecting reviews to bring the rating up. Sites that are labeled Monitoring have already met their current goal, so the system is not going to send review requests to these platforms until your top priority platform has reached its rating goal or until all sites have met the current smart goal and the system resets to make a new goal. Sites that are labeled as Maintaining have already met the highest rating goal. The system is constantly watching these platforms for any downturn in rating, and if any occurs it sends a small number of requests to keep the rating at or above the goal.
Manage Reviews
In your Shopper Approved dashboard, you can view all the reviews that customers have left you on the different open source platforms you’ve connected. Just click the “Manage Reviews” tab:
