SMS - Collect follow-up reviews via SMS

Information about collecting follow-up reviews through Shopper Approved's SMS system

Please note: SMS review collection is not currently compatible with Shopify stores. We are working on adding this functionality to our public Shopify app, but it is not available at this time.

Also, the SMS feature will only currently work for customers with a US based phone number.

Shopper Approved has created a new feature that will enable us to text your customers that opt-in to receiving SMS messages in addition to the standard follow-up email flow! This should help boost the response rate of follow-up reviews for your account.

How it works:

After turning on the SMS feature, you will see a disclaimer on your "Store Ratings" customization page in the Shopper Approved dashboard:

This allows for you to see that SMS is turned on and also to control whether or not our system will send the messages in addition to the follow-up email. The SMS messages will be timed according to the same follow-up timing that you have set for the follow-up emails.

Please note, due to regulations around SMS messaging, the window when messages are sent is 18:00 and 23:00 UTC. In EST that equates to 2:00PM - 7:00PM During daylight savings. When not in Daylight savings the window is 1:00PM - 6:00PM EST.

Once SMS is turned on:

During the order confirmation page survey, once a customer submitted their review the survey can now display a section that will ask a customer to input their phone number

The customer can also consent to receiving promotional text messages. This portion is still in progress, but will allow for us to do things in the future like sending marketing SMS messages through the Shopper Approved app.

Once a customer has entered their phone number and clicked Submit, they will receive a confirmation text within the next hour. That message looks like this:

They will then receive a text similar to the screenshot below once their follow-up date has been reached. Our system will send both the text below and the typical follow-up email that customers would receive.

If a customer clicks the link in that text message, it will open up the typical follow-up survey where a customer can complete a full store review and a product review if you are currently collecting product reviews with us.
